The End of the Journey
Affirming Life in the Process of Dying
Despite the constant presence of death in our lives, we rarely speak of it openly or directly, particularly when it comes to our own deaths. The one institution that should, or could lead the way in fostering healing conversations about death is the church. However, even communities of faith often seem to neglect having meaningful conversations about this inevitable part of our lives.
You now have the opportunity to help create a faith community where people openly talk about death, the dying and the dead, a community of love and insight and compassion around death and the dying.
Join us for the Jim Cook Seminar, where the topic will be “The End of the Journey, Affirming Life in the Process of Dying,” where we will:
1. Build a community around and increase comfort in talking about death and dying,
2. Invite participants to discover their own personal meaning and theology of death,
3. Provide practical information related to:
a. preparing for our own deaths,
b. supporting others as they journey through the dying process
The seminar will be facilitated by Kelly Cummings. Kelly is a Registered Nurse with over 40 years in health care. She is a Registered Yoga Teacher, board certified Health and Wellbeing Coach, healing touch practitioner, mindfulness and meditation teacher, and certified death doula. Her doctoral studies evaluated the construction of nurse patient relationships and appreciative inquiry. Kelly believes in the ability of all persons to be healers and to heal.
